| I'm moving! Well..I'm not moving, but my blog is.
For a long time I've been running multiple blogs and vlogs. I've decided it's time to streamline. One of the nicest things about xanga is the community and how for those of you who were foolish enough to "subscribe", I've been forcing my way into your email inbox for a long time.
I'm sad that you won't get anymore emails letting you know of blog updates, though my new home has an RSS feed for those of you hip enough to know what those are.
Please feel encouraged to come visit me at my new home: www.DanCanada.ca
| I'm told today is supposed to be the luckiest day of the century. I can confirm the weather is great which means terrific luck for all those brides and grooms tying the knot on this cool date.
I went for a stroll on my way to pick up my new photo printer (an Epson 2200). I decided to stop at a rather neglected though utterly important Halifax landmark.

That's right, the tombstone of Alexander Keith. For those not from Canada, I'll forgive you for not knowing that Alexander Keith was the creator of one of the finest beers in the world, Keith's India Pale Ale. It is the best-selling beer on the East Coast last I checked, and deservedly so.
Keith's tombstone is tucked away in a graveyard in the South End of Halifax. I'm hoping to head up there with a 12-pack and drink to his memory before the summer is out.
Cheers to the luckiest day of the year!
| Happy day after Canada Day!!
I decided to head down the the water and snap a few photos. I met up with Alyssa and Olivier for some pre-fireworks beer and homemade Nan. They're in a new place and have sweet rooftop patio.

We weren't the only ones who planned to photograph the fireworks. I spotted this guy on a rooftop several blocks away.

Our plan was to get right down on the water. So we marched down with tripods, cameras, and everything else to get a good spot. It ended up working out alright and it was a lot of fun. Here's a couple shots from the evening.

| Finally got some nice weather today! I've got a lot to learn when it comes to shooting macro, but I'm loving my new Tamron Lens already!!

And to give you a sense of how the lens performs as a portrait lens, here's a shot of my girlfriend on her phone while we were in the public gardens.

| Because I got a new lens, the weather has been crap. That's how these things work. I was really looking forward to visiting a local garden with my new Macro lens, but instead I'm stuck inside.
Given I'm housed in a weather induced cage, I decided to take another crack at that "groom leaning on tree" photo. I posted a few days back, indicating how I used Capture NX to get some fresh colours. It seemed to be a controversial change, as I got conflicting comments on whether it was indeed an improvement.
This time around I decided to use Photomatix to tone map the image into an HDR. I had to start with the Raw file. I ran it through Photomatix at default settings. That created tons of noise (which is normal), so I opened it in CS2, ran it through Neat Image for some aggressive noise reduction, and finally did a little Paint with Light.
Here's my final result:
